Prizes will be awarded by random drawings throughout Bowl-a-thon.
Besides being a lot of fun this event has a lot of history.
The bowl-a-thon began over 20 years ago and was originally created by a volunteer named Elaine Karl as her arthritis prevented her from continuing as an active volunteer with lessons. She wanted to continue to give to CATRA in some way so she thought of the Bowl-a-thon. It was so much fun she continued doing it for many years. Elaine was an award winning Special Education Teacher.
Ryan Gallagher was her student as well as a CATRA rider. Although Ryan was not able to speak or walk, he managed to touch many people deeply throughout his life. When Ryan passed, Elaine made the Bowl-a-thon to be in his memory as it has continued to this day. Candy Dupler – CATRA’s first rider – was also Elaine’s student. When Elaine passed 2 years ago, Candy and her Mom took on coordinating the event as a tribute to Elaine’s excellent work.
“Although unable to walk or speak, Ryan managed to deeply touch many people throughout his life.”
