The Capital Area Therapeutic Riding Association (CATRA) is committed to providing an internship experience that will acquaint students/recent graduates with the working environment of the therapeutic riding industry, while providing them with hands-on experiences in the barn and arena.
Interns Will:
Gain experience working with adults and children with special needs.
Gain experience working in a non-profit.
Learn about horses and the field of Equine Assisted Services.
Learn valuable leadership skills through partnering with horses.
Build upon soft skills that all employers look for such as: communication, teamwork, adaptability, problem solving, and creativity.
Grow personally and professionally through getting out of your comfort zone.

Responsibilities:
- Supporting participants in therapeutic riding lessons through side walking.
- Leading horses in therapeutic riding lessons.
- Prepping barn, arena, and horses for various equine assisted services.
- Assisting with trainings and events.
- Caring for the herd through feed time and daily barn chores.
